8 -152 Count Crayons
Can your remember all the way back to your first box of coloring crayons?
If you were like me it was an 8 count box of jumbos, in the basic colors,
Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Brown, Black, Yellow, Purple.
Do you remember the first time you opened that box, the feel of the paper wrapped around that beautiful rich color of wax? Can you remember the anticipation of first time making that mark on that fresh, clean sheet of paper? You could have let yourself be limited by the black outline shape in a coloring book or go wild, with your own imagination. When you realized that you could mix colors of those basic colors and create something new, exciting and different, your creations became unlimited.
And, oh, how the world expanded and became more exciting once you learned there were even more choices, in colors, with larger box sizes and even a built in sharpening tool. Even the name of the color became just as important as what you would make. Did you experiment and outline in a darker color and use the lighter shade to create softness?
Did you take a step beyond the exact same printed page, that everyone had been given? I remember adding flowers, clouds, rainbows and even coloring the fingers so the little girl on the page wore nail polish. I was connected to those pages and colored wax sticks. Oh! What stories those crayons allowed me to tell. Were you as careful, as I was to always place them carefully back in their protective boxes? And did you notice which colors you used more as they became smaller?
Today, I give life to art and I have the same feelings when I add paint to the canvas as I did creating with the crayons. I've learned to connect myself and the viewer to the pieces I create. I paint color, shapes and embellished details. Sometimes the mood of the art matches my own view I have of the world around me. Other times, the colors and shapes of my work are inspired by places I have visited.
I encourage you to take your time as you scroll through my work. Take a minute and let the colors, textures and movement draw you in. Where does your mind go? Allow the feeling to take you on a journey all while you can return to your current time and place. Art is as transformative to the viewer as it is to the maker. You can return over and over and escape to a world away, a place where you can relax and dream.
You are invited to get lost in the art creations across this site. I hope to take you on a wonderful journey.
Sincerely
Machell
